Portrait: Marcel Fengler
A multi-faceted musical personality: Focus on Marcel Fengler, resident of Berghain
Initiated by the underground movement, hip-hop and graffiti in the first place, it was only after the fall of the Berlin Wall that he turned to another libertarian art form, techno music and djing.
It was through the first hardcore and trance raves of E-Werk and Trésor Berlin that he found his musical ideal and organized his own parties in his hometown of Fürstenwalde. He then developed his own identity, which made him one of the first residents of the famous Berghain / Panorama Bar.
“FOKUS” – Ostgut Ton Records – 2013
An inimitable style that can also be found in his productions, as summed up in his 9-track album on the Ostgut Ton label in Berghain.
A broad artistic focus, with releases on labels such as Mote Evolvet, Dekmantel, Chris Liebing Records, or as demonstrated by his joint project with Efdemin on a contemporary dance project for the Berlin Staatsballett.
As a DJ, Marcel Fengler tries to present imposing surprises and show his appeal for variety. Techno must be both an unconditional passion and an essential part of his identity. He is not tied to a linear or one-dimensional sound, but is constantly looking for new ways to express his talents as a narrator of emotion.
His willingness to challenge himself and to remain curious makes Marcel Fengler one of the most exciting electronic artists of our time.
